LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Indie movie mainstay Parker Posey is venturing into series television with "The Return of Jezebel James," a Fox comedy pilot from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.
Parker would play a successful children's book editor who is newly single and, after learning she won't be able to conceive, asks her estranged younger sister to carry her baby for her.
Sherman-Palladino said she and husband Daniel Palladino, who are executive producing the pilot, have been big fans of Posey for years. They sent the "Jezebel" script to her knowing that the actress had turned down every pilot she had been offered in the pas
"I can't believe it's happening," Sherman-Palladino said of landing Posey. "Because it's a comedy, the character runs the gamut of emotions from laughing to flipping out to breaking your heart in 22 minutes, and only one in a zillion people has enough skill and charm to pull that off. Parker Posey is that person."
Posey most recently appeared in "Superman Returns" and is filming "The Eye." Her upcoming features include "Broken English" and "Fay Grim," which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, and "Spring Breakdown."
